Clean, quiet and easy-structured university allows you to conduct studies in your field of interest. It is possible to take a sit in many places around, there is a library and a canteen for students, which can be accessed with a student card provided by university for around 300 EUR at the date of this writing. Besides, there are places to do active sports outside. There are many great places to visit in the viscinity (no tourists) beginning with nature beaty to wine festivals, which happen every week at different villages during warm seasons. The student card allows to travel to these areas by train for free (it is valid for the VRN area, but you can also buy a DT monthly subscription for 25 EUR/month to travel across the whole Germany, which means no limitations at all). I have to mention that bakery in Germany is amazing, even in Lidl you will find a great bread taste.
A giant enrollment fee (300 EUR) is not expected to be covered by Erasmus program. Also, HSKL requires state insurance (e.g. TK) provided by Germany, which is also more expensive than regular travel insurance (keep in mind). Prices are 10-15% more expensive than in Czech Republic, but the meat itself costs double at least. Pirmasens is located in a "dead-end", which means bad transport connection for train journeys - in 90% you have to take a train to Kaiserslautern (near-by town) every time. Beside studies, there is nothing much to do, even ESN doesn't really reach there due to lack of interest of students: good luck to find friends. It is extremely hard to find accomodation as well - university doesn't have dormitories and the small one that exists (it is a separate organisation) is constantly occupied. Moreover, landlords are not willing to sign a contract unless you come for more than 6 months.
Overall, it is a not bad experience if you have never visited Germany and want to see its south-eastern part. Personally, I had an internship in HSKL for two months under Prof. Schuster supervision. He seems to be a good scientist who knows his job well, but expects everything to be done by a student without proper guidance and supervision upon. Unfortunately, due to some outside problems (that could not be affected), I have never seen laboratories and my job was not entirely successful - for a half of my internship I had no work. In short, this university is recommended for introverts and who are willing to pay extra, because scholarship will cover only 80% of your expenses.
